About Thelma's Family Tree
I was born on Jan.14,1944 in Jefferson Co,New York. I started working with my genealogy about 50 years ago, and for the past 20 years I have worked almost every day on it. When I had a family to raise I had a limited time to work on anything but the everyday raising of a family. But I was hooked on it and by the time I became older and disabled I had plenty of time. How do you know you are really hooked on genealogy? When you get excited over someone else's family line not just your own. The last few years with the help of a computer and the Internet I have really made some progress in finding other people who are in my family tree. Having a web site like this can help a lot. Genealogy will always be a work in progress you will make mistakes as will others. So when someone tells you that you may have some of your information wrong, don't get upset with them, you may have. That is why keeping a record of your sources is so important. I had to learn that the hard way. I started my search, after questioning older family members, in the library so when one day I was asked where I had found a certain date I could only answer from a book in the library. That is not a good answer. I also think that genealogy (the names, dates & etc.) go hand in hand with family history which are your family stories, diaries, scrapbooks and etc. Even adding a description of the person and personality traits are nice to read about. Feel free to contact me and send me anything you want to add even corrections. And if you can tie in your family line send it to me and I will be glad to add it here. The more information we share the more will be remembered. This is not just for my future generations to have a family record but for your family to have a record of ,too.
***If you have a death date from a tombstone that has the person's age in years; days & months below you will see a link to a page that will calculate the birthdate for you...

Getting Around There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.
In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool. |
